These key points are a summary. The full terms below apply.

1. About the Competition
1.1. The promoter  The Competition is run by Boisdale Talent Show Limited. Our registered office and company number appear above.

1.2. Accepting these terms  By submitting an entry, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms and any entry instructions clearly published on the Competition website (Competition Information). If there is a conflict, these terms will apply unless the Competition Information expressly says that it changes a specified term.

1.3. Fair administration  We will run the Competition fairly and in accordance with applicable law and the CAP Code. Our decisions on eligibility, voting validation and judging are final, except where we have made a clear error.

2. Who can enter
2.1. Age and type of act  The Competition is open to solo artists and bands. Each performer must be aged 18 or over when the entry is submitted.

2.2. Bands  One band member must act as the main contact and must have authority to submit the entry and agree these terms on behalf of the band. Before a band can take part in publicity or the Live Final, we may ask every member to confirm these terms and provide any further releases we reasonably require.

2.3. Attendance and permissions  You must be legally able to enter the Competition and, if selected, travel to and perform at the Live Final in London. You are responsible for any passport, visa, immigration, tax, union or professional permissions you need.

2.4. Excluded entrants  You may not enter if you are an employee, officer or director of the Promoter, or of a business directly involved in producing, administering or judging the Competition, or an immediate family member or household member of such a person. Employees of sponsors may enter only if they have no involvement in the Competition and their employer permits it.

3. How to enter
3.1. Entry period  Entries must be received between the opening and closing dates shown in the Key information. We are not responsible for entries that are late, incomplete, corrupted or not received because of a technical problem outside our reasonable control.

3.2. Entry process  Create an account on the Competition website, provide the requested contact details, upload your entry video in an accepted format, and confirm your acceptance of these terms. No other entry method will be accepted.

3.3. Multiple entries  You may submit more than one original song. Each entry will be considered separately, but an artist or band can be selected as a Finalist only once. If more than one entry by the same act qualifies, we will decide which entry progresses, taking its ranking and the judges' assessment into account.

3.4. Keep the original  Keep the original, highest-quality file. You must provide it promptly if we need it for judging, promotion, production, broadcast or verification.

3.5. True information  All details you give us must be accurate, current and complete. Tell us promptly if your contact details or band membership change.

4. Your music and entry video
4.1. Original music only  The song, lyrics, composition, arrangement, performance and recording submitted must be original to you, or you must have obtained all permissions needed to enter and to grant us the rights in section 8. Cover versions are not eligible.

4.2. Co-writers and other contributors  If anyone else has contributed to the song, performance, recording or video, including a co-writer, producer, featured artist, session musician, videographer, record label, publisher or band member, you must have their written permission before entering. You must provide evidence of that permission if we ask.

4.3. No uncleared material  Your entry must not contain an uncleared sample, backing track, beat, image, artwork, trade mark, film clip or other material owned by someone else. Royalty-free or licensed material may be used only where its licence permits all uses described in these terms.

4.4. A genuine performance  The video must show a genuine performance by the entrant. Unless the Competition Information expressly permits it, do not use lip-syncing, pitch correction or autotune, AI-generated vocals, or processing that materially disguises the performance. Ordinary recording, mixing and mastering that does not misrepresent the performance is allowed.

4.5. Suitable content  Your entry must not be unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, threatening, obscene, deliberately misleading, unsafe, or invasive of another person's privacy. It must not promote illegal activity or include anyone under 18.

4.6. Your promises  By entering, you promise that you are entitled to submit the entry; it does not infringe anyone else's copyright, trade mark, privacy, publicity, confidentiality or other rights; and our permitted use of it will not require us to pay or obtain permission from a third party, except for any music licensing fees that we have expressly agreed to handle.

4.7. Moderation  We may reject or remove an entry that does not comply with these terms, creates a legal or safety risk, or is technically unsuitable. Where reasonably possible, we will explain the reason and allow a minor, genuine error to be corrected before the closing date.

5. Public voting
5.1. How voting works  Eligible entries may be shown on the Competition website for a public vote. A person may cast one free vote in each 24-hour period, subject to any account verification or security checks stated on the voting page. Additional votes will be paid for at the rates published on the website. Only valid votes recorded by our voting system before the closing time will count.

5.2. What counts as a vote  Views, likes, comments, shares and other social-media engagement are not votes and will not be added to the vote total. They may be displayed for information or used to promote the Competition, but will not determine the voting result.

5.3. Fair voting  You may promote your entry and ask people to vote, but you must not buy votes, offer rewards for votes, use bots or automated tools, create or arrange false accounts, coordinate vote exchanges, interfere with the website, or use any other method intended to manipulate the result unfairly.

5.4. Invalid votes  We may investigate voting patterns and remove votes that we reasonably believe are fraudulent, automated, duplicated, purchased or otherwise invalid. We may disqualify an entrant who knew of, encouraged or materially benefited from attempted manipulation.

5.5. Technical problems  If a significant technical problem affects voting, we may pause voting, extend it, rerun all or part of it, or use verified votes received before the problem. We will publish the action taken and will aim to avoid unfairly disadvantaging any entrant.

6. Judging and the Live Final
6.1. Choosing the ten Finalists  After the public vote, a competent judging panel will select ten acts for the Live Final. The panel will take account of the verified public-vote result and assess musical ability, originality, songwriting, quality of performance, stage potential and overall suitability for the Competition. The public vote does not by itself guarantee a place in the Live Final.

6.2. Independent judging  The judging panel will include at least one member who is independent of the Promoter, the Competition's agencies and the entrants. The judges' names will be available on request. If there is a tie or deadlock, the panel chair will make the final decision using the same criteria.

6.3. Notification  We will contact provisionally selected Finalists using the details supplied on entry. You must respond within 48 hours and provide any eligibility, identity or rights documents we reasonably request. If you do not respond or cannot meet the requirements, we may offer the place to another entrant.

6.4. Live Final  Finalists must be available to rehearse and perform at the Live Final on 1 February 2027 at Boisdale of Canary Wharf, London. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, Finalists must pay their own travel, accommodation, food and other attendance costs.

6.5. Live performance requirements  Finalists must follow reasonable production, rehearsal, venue, health and safety, safeguarding, technical and conduct instructions. We may require a reasonable change to song length, arrangement, staging or equipment for production, timing, safety or legal reasons, while respecting the integrity of the performance as far as practicable.

6.6. Choosing the Winner  The judging panel will choose one Winner at the Live Final based on the criteria in clause 6.1 and the live performance. The verified public-vote result may be considered but will not bind the judges. The panel chair will resolve any tie.

7. Promotional participation
7.1. Reasonable cooperation  If requested, entrants must reasonably cooperate with publicity for the Competition, its current sponsors, the Live Final and the Winner. This may include supplying photographs and biographical details; recording short video or audio messages on a phone; taking part in interviews, photography or filming; attending reasonable rehearsals or media calls; and allowing us to tag the entrant's official social-media accounts.

7.2. Content requests  We will give a clear brief and reasonable notice. Before the Live Final, we may ask an entrant to supply up to five short promotional recordings. A request must be lawful, safe, relevant to the Competition and not reasonably likely to harm the entrant's reputation. We may edit supplied material for length, format, subtitles, branding and technical quality, but not so as to materially misrepresent the entrant.

7.3. Finalists and Winner  Finalists must be available for reasonable promotional activity connected with the Live Final. The Winner must also take part in reasonable publicity and prize-related activity for 12 months after the Live Final. Any separate management, recording, performance or sponsorship arrangement will be governed by its own written terms.

7.4. Social-media disclosures  If we ask you to publish promotional content on your own social-media account, you must follow our reasonable instructions and clearly identify the commercial relationship where required, for example by using an appropriate '#ad' label. You must also follow the law and the platform's rules.

7.5. Fees and expenses  No fee is payable for the promotional activity described in this section. We will reimburse reasonable, pre-approved travel expenses where we ask you to attend a promotional activity in person other than the Live Final. You must provide receipts and follow any expenses instructions we give you in advance.

8. Rights to use your name, image, music and content
8.1. You keep ownership  You keep ownership of your music and your entry. These terms give us a licence to use them; they do not transfer your copyright to us.

8.2. Competition licence  You grant us, our group companies, production partners, broadcasters, platforms, sponsors and service providers a worldwide, royalty-free, transferable and sub-licensable licence to record, copy, host, store, reproduce, edit, adapt, subtitle, synchronise, communicate, make available, publish, broadcast, stream, distribute and otherwise use your entry and other material supplied or created for the Competition (Competition Content).

8.3. Purpose and duration  The licence in clause 8.2 may be used to administer, judge, produce, exhibit, advertise, publicise, report on, archive and exploit the Competition and related programmes, events and promotional campaigns in any media now known or developed later. It begins when you enter and continues indefinitely so that published programmes, recordings, posts and archives do not have to be removed. Any new paid endorsement or unrelated advertising campaign featuring you as an individual will require a separate agreement.

8.4. Name and likeness  You permit us to use your stage name, legal name where reasonably necessary, approved biography, voice, image, likeness, social-media handles and comments about the Competition for the purposes in clause 8.3. We will not publish your home address, private contact details or other unnecessary personal information.

8.5. Live Final recording  We may photograph and make audio-visual recordings of rehearsals, interviews, promotional activity and the Live Final. We own the copyright in recordings that we or our contractors create, including the production as a whole, subject to your underlying rights in your original song. We may edit and broadcast or make those recordings available online, on television, on social media, at events or through other media without further approval or payment.

8.6. Editing and credits  We may edit Competition Content for timing, format, compliance, production and promotional purposes, but we will not deliberately present it in a materially false or defamatory way. We will use reasonable efforts to credit the artist where customary, but an accidental failure to credit will not be a breach if corrected where reasonably practicable.

8.7. Moral rights  To the extent permitted by law, you waive, and will obtain waivers of, moral rights in Competition Content solely to allow the editing and uses permitted by this section. If a moral right cannot legally be waived, you agree not to assert it in a way that prevents those permitted uses.

8.8. No obligation to use  We do not have to publish or use any entry or other Competition Content and may stop using it, subject to our obligations to administer the Competition fairly.

9. The Prize
9.1. Prize package  Subject to verification and any reasonable provider terms disclosed to the Winner, the Winner's prize package comprises:

  • a £15,000 cash prize;
  • the opportunity to record an EP at Abbey Road Studios with a producer selected or approved by us;
  • Yamaha instruments and equipment with a total stated value of £15,000;
  • one year of management and coaching from Neil O'Brien Entertainment;
  • a performance at the 2027 Boisdale Xerjoff Music Awards as the official Competition Winner;
  • artist styling, including a new look and wardrobe, from a stylist selected by us; and
  • a Xerjoff fragrance prize.

9.2. Prize conditions  Dates, specifications, sizes, product selection, studio access and other practical details will be agreed or set reasonably by us and the relevant prize provider. Management, recording and performance elements may require separate reasonable written agreements. No particular release, commercial result, income or career outcome is guaranteed.

9.3. No transfer  The Prize is personal to the Winner, may not be transferred or sold, and has no cash alternative except for the cash element. If the Winner is a band, the band is responsible for deciding how the cash and equipment are shared; we may pay or deliver them to the nominated band representative in full discharge of our obligation.

9.4. Substitution  If a non-cash element becomes unavailable for reasons outside our reasonable control, we may replace it with a prize of equal or greater value. We will not withdraw or materially reduce the Prize unless required by law or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

9.5. Delivery and tax  We aim to provide the Prize, or agree a delivery timetable with the Winner, within 30 days after the Live Final. The Winner is responsible for any personal tax or professional advice arising from accepting or using the Prize.

9.6. Loss of entitlement  We may withhold or recover a Prize only where the Winner was not eligible, materially breached these terms, acted fraudulently or dishonestly, or cannot lawfully receive it. Where appropriate, we may select a replacement Winner using the same judging criteria.

10. Personal information
10.1. How we use information  We will use entrants' personal information to administer and promote the Competition, verify eligibility and rights, contact entrants, conduct voting and judging, arrange the Live Final and prizes, prevent fraud, comply with law, and use names, images and Competition Content as described in these terms.

10.2. Who receives it  We may share relevant information with judges, sponsors, prize providers, production partners, broadcasters, venues, professional advisers, fraud-prevention and technical service providers where reasonably necessary for those purposes. We will not sell entrants' contact details or add them to unrelated marketing lists without a lawful basis.

10.3. Privacy notice  Our Competition privacy notice, available on the Competition website, explains our lawful bases, retention periods, international transfers and entrants' data-protection rights. If these terms and the privacy notice differ on how personal information is handled, the privacy notice will apply.

10.4. Results  We may publish the stage name or name, general location and winning entry of the Winner and Finalists. An entrant may object to or ask us to reduce publication of their personal details by contacting us, although we may still provide information to the Advertising Standards Authority or another regulator where required.

11. Conduct and disqualification
11.1. Expected conduct  Entrants must act lawfully and professionally and must not threaten, abuse, harass or discriminate against another entrant, voter, judge, member of staff or member of the public; endanger anyone; damage property; or bring the Competition into serious disrepute through conduct directly connected with it.

11.2. Disqualification  We may reject an entry, remove votes, remove content, suspend participation or disqualify an entrant where we reasonably believe these terms have been materially breached or action is needed for safety, legality or the fair running of the Competition. We will consider the seriousness of the issue and, where appropriate, give the entrant a reasonable chance to respond.

11.3. Rights claims  If a third party makes a credible claim about your entry, we may temporarily remove it or pause your participation while the claim is investigated. You must cooperate and provide relevant permissions or evidence promptly.

11.4. Responsibility for breach  If you materially breach the promises in section 4, you will reimburse the Competition Parties for direct losses, damages and reasonable legal costs finally awarded by a court or agreed in a settlement approved by you, to the extent caused by that breach. We will notify you promptly of a claim and allow you a reasonable opportunity to respond. This clause does not make you responsible for losses caused by our alteration or use outside the licence granted by these terms.

12. Changes, cancellation and events outside our control
12.1. Changes  We may make minor changes to these terms or the Competition Information to clarify them, correct an error, meet a legal or regulatory requirement, address safety or security, or deal with an event outside our reasonable control. We will publish material changes promptly and will not use a change to unfairly disadvantage entrants who have already entered.

12.2. Cancellation or postponement  If events outside our reasonable control make it impossible, unsafe or unlawful to continue as planned, we may pause, postpone, relocate, modify or cancel the Competition or Live Final. We will give reasonable notice, explain the main effect, and take reasonable steps to preserve valid entries and voting results or provide a fair alternative.

13. Liability
13.1. What is not excluded  Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, deliberate misconduct, or any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

13.2. Reasonable limits  Subject to clause 13.1, the Competition Parties are not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable when you entered, for business or professional losses, or for problems caused by your equipment, internet connection, platform, third-party service, or an event outside our reasonable control.

13.3. Your consumer rights  Nothing in these terms affects any rights you have under consumer or data-protection law.

14. General
14.1. Competition Parties  In these terms, Competition Parties means the Promoter and the sponsors, prize providers, judges, producers, broadcasters, venues, platforms, contractors and agencies involved in running or promoting the Competition, together with their officers, employees and agents.

14.2. No employment or agency  Entering or taking part does not make you our employee, worker, partner or agent. Except for the Prize and any expressly agreed expenses, you are not entitled to payment.

14.3. Separate terms  A prize provider or platform may apply reasonable separate terms to its service. We will make any material terms available before they become binding. These terms do not give a third party any right to enforce them, except that a Competition Party may rely on a provision that expressly protects it.

14.4. Severability  If a court finds part of these terms unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining terms will continue to apply.

14.5. Delay  If we do not enforce a term immediately, that does not prevent us from enforcing it later.

14.6. Law and courts  These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, but an entrant who lives elsewhere may retain any mandatory rights to bring a claim in their home courts.

14.7. Contact  Questions or complaints may be sent by post to Boisdale Talent Show Limited, 15 Eccleston Street, London SW1W 9LX, or through the contact method shown on the Competition website.
